Who is Pinky Dhaliwal?: For whom the High Court issued orders at 11 pm, SHO's statement recorded at 3 am
The Punjab Haryana High Court orders the immediate release of music producer Pinky Dhaliwal from police custody after the Mohali Police detained him without an FIR. The case has raised questions about police actions, with concerns over forced arrest memos and custody procedures.

There are very few cases in which a court hears cases at night. However, this does happen in many high-profile cases. The same has happened in the Pinky Dhaliwal case, where the Punjab Haryana High Court heard the petition at 11 pm.
The Punjab-Haryana High Court has ordered the immediate release of music producer Pinky Dhaliwal from police custody. The High Court issued this order while hearing the habeas corpus petition filed by Dhaliwal's son Gurkaran Singh Dhaliwal. The court said that if Pinky is not wanted in any other case, then she should be released immediately.
In the petition filed in this case, questions have been raised on the action of Mohali Police. Pinky has been accused of being picked up from home without any FIR. This case dates back to the evening of 8 March 2025, when the police detained Pushpinder Pal Singh Dhaliwal alias Pinky from his house in Sector-71. Just eight minutes after this incident, a DDR was registered at the Mataur police station, showing that he has been brought for questioning.
Petition filed in High Court at 10 pm
According to the petition, Dhaliwal was allowed to meet his lawyer at 8:20 pm. After this, at 10 pm, his son filed a habeas corpus petition in the High Court. The High Court considered the matter serious and issued an order at 11 pm and appointed a warrant officer. Meanwhile, after midnight, at 12:40 am, the warrant officer and Dhaliwal's lawyer reached the police station. The SHO claimed that an FIR had been registered, but neither was a copy of it given to the lawyer nor was any arrest memo provided.
Forced to sign the arrest memo
Later, they found that the SHO had forced Dhaliwal to sign an arrest memo, which was prepared seven hours after he was picked up. At 3 am, the warrant officer recorded the SHO's statement, in which he clearly refused to be released. After this, at 2 pm, Dhaliwal was produced before the duty magistrate, where the police sought five days of custody, but the court granted a remand of only two days. Hearing the petition, the High Court ordered the immediate release of Dhaliwal.
This is the whole matter
Punjab Police had arrested music producer Pinky Dhaliwal in the fraud case of singer Sunanda Sharma. This action of Mator police station was taken after the emotional post of the singer. Sunanda has alleged that despite earning Rs 250 crore in the last several years, she has not been paid anything. In her complaint to Mohali Police, the singer also alleged that Pushpinder Dhaliwal exploited her by luring her to marry his son Gurkaran Dhaliwal.
